About Me
Hi - I'm Donna and thank you for taking the time to read my page. It can be difficult knowing how to choose the right counsellor so I hope having some further information about me will help.
Most of my previous work has involved supporting people who are experiencing difficulties. The last sixteen years I have worked in the area of domestic abuse both in the local authority and with a charity. I have also worked with victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse, both male and female. These roles have involved enabling clients to identify and communicate how they felt, which has been essential for them to move forward and make changes to the way they have responded to and experienced the world around them. My counselling work built on these skills, and I now deal with a range of issues through private practice.
I have a Postgraduate Diploma and a Masters in Counselling from the University of Manchester. I have a Certificate in Psycho-sexual Therapy and have extensive experience in delivering this to individuals and couples. I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Attachment Theory and am a qualified Supervisor. I am an Accredited Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which means that I have met the strict standards required to be on the accredited register approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
I am experienced in a wide range of issues but ultimately, it is the relationship between us - me and you - that is the most important part of all of this. If we are a good fit then we can have some great outcomes.
My clients have told me that they have found me approachable, warm and open minded. I offer a space for people to speak without fear of judgement and have been able to help people work out their issues and move forward.
Please feel free to contact me (donnasullivancounselling.co.uk) and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have if it helps you decide whether to proceed with counselling in general and me in particular.
